Resumo

The daily practice of dentists evolves when restorative techniques lead to higher success rates and long-lasting in treatments associated to less invasive procedures. In this context, self-etching adhesives, self-adhesive cements and immediate dentin sealing are examples of modern materials and technique with an uprising popularity among clinicians. The objective of this study was to evaluate the influence of different surface treatment on the sealed dentin with self-etching adhesive on bond strength to a self-adhesive resin. The coronary portions of 90 bovine teeth, included in epoxy resin, were worn out for dentin exposure. The sample was randomly subdivided in six groups. In group C (control) the dentin was kept "fresh" while immediate dentin sealing with Clearfil SE Bond (Kuraray) were performed in the others five groups. After 24 hours of storage, the sealed dentin of the samples received different surface treatments: P group (prophylaxis with pumice); PA group (prophylaxis followed by etching with phosphoric acid); PAS group (prophylaxis, phosphoric acid and silanization); PASC group (prophylaxis, phosphoric acid, silanization and bonding layer of adhesive Clearfil SE Bond) and PAU group [prophylaxis, phosphoric acid and a universal adhesive layer Single Bond Universal (3M ESPE)]. After these protocols, U200 self-adhesive cement (3M ESPE) cylinders were bonded in all six groups, forming an average of 15 sample units per group. The samples were submitted to microshear bond strength test at 0.5mm/min for two storage times: 24 hours (T1) e 3 months (T2). Statistical analysis was carried out using Kruskal-Wallis test, presenting a significant difference between RUM values (p=0.0018) among groups, for 24 hours of storage, and PASC group presented values significantly higher than all other groups. For 3 months of storage, there was no significant difference (p=0,223) between the groups. It is possible to conclude that immediate dentin sealing produced microshear bond strength values similar to control group (as recommended by manufacturer, without immediate sealing), except for the group that associated prophylaxis, phosphoric acid, silane and Clearfil SE Bond that was significantly higher in 24 hours tests, without significant changes with 3 months of storage.
