Resumo
This work consists of the study on the possibility of peaceful coexistence between agribusiness and family agriculture, outlining a relationship of complementarity in the context of Brazilian agrarian development. The paper analyzes the Brazilian land structure, through a historical analysis of its institution. There is discussion about the concepts of latifundio, minifundio and agroindustrial complex without forgetting the current classification between large, medium and small rural property. The paradigms of the Brazilian agrarian question and of agrarian capitalism are discussed, under an economic, social, environmental, but mainly legal approach, observing the points of divergence and convergence between agribusiness and family agriculture. The intervention of the Brazilian legislation in the maintenance of the land structure, and the complementarity of the family agriculture and the agribusiness, is
evaluated. The analysis of the legislation as an incentive and maintainer of the Brazilian agrarian land structure and its consequences serves as a panorama for the analysis of the
way of production and maintenance of the man in the field, analyzing the participation of
agribusiness and family agriculture for Brazilian agrarian development, and whether this
development is occurring in a coherent, complementary or submissive way between the forms of production. The work will be based on historical-dialectical materialism, seeking the causes of Brazilian agrarian development, its changes in society, and what elements could lead to deviations and different positions.
