Resumo
A study of the control effect of deltamethrin (K-Othrine Flow SC 50) in
34 habitional units (house and annexes) infected wilh at least one species of
triatominae bugs was performed in the locality of Goianópolis, district of Pirenópolis,
State of Goiás, Brazil. Species found were Panstrongylus geniculatus, Rhodnius
neglectus, Triatoma pseudomaculata e T.sordida.
Deltamethrin was sprayed at the dose of 25 mg/square meter and was ablc
to eliminate colonies of the bugs of the 34 houses treated for the period of 12
months.
Control of houses at lhe third, sixth, ninth and twefth month did show only
dead adult stage bugs. The species more frequently captured was R.neglectus.
These findings allow to conclude that: a) the residual effect of deltamethrin
was persistent ai least during one year, and was lethal for tbese, little size,
winged species; b) finding of adults show a domiciliar invasion, mainly of
R.neglectus, which, hence, hás a higher invasive capacity than other species.
