Arquitetura religiosa: monumentos, templos e igrejas nas cidades goianas

Abstract

The religious architecture, rests essentially on the buildings of sacred functions, the churches. Its outward appearance gained allegorical importance, amounting to or surpassing that of the interior. The temples are true indexes of the communities that sponsor them and in which they are integrated: in economic terms, given the greater or lesser dimension and decorative richness of the building; at the cultural level, due to the erudition of the iconographic programs; at the social and political level, by the explicit association of important personalities, royal, noble or ecclesiastical, who chose the temple for their pantheon; or even mentally and militarily, given the character of some of his marginal sculpture. Places of worship and prayer, the Romanesque churches, particularly in Portugal and Spain, are also often the places of civic meeting of the parishes, liturgical and profane poles.
