Resumo
The paper describes the morphologic
changes in the mesenteric lymph
nodes in 22 cases of fatal strongyloidíasis.
The lymph nodes were frequently
enlarged and in the hlstologic
examination showed severe
changes in the córtex, with atrophic
lymphoid follicles, and mild atrophy
of the paracortical área. The stnus
were dilated and showed prominent
macrophage actívation with an intente
phagocytosís by the reticulum cel-
Is present in the medullary and cortical
sinus. The atrophy of the córtex
and paracortical área may represent
tiie morphologic changes of the immunodefíciency
that hás been discussed
for the patíents with severe infection
\y Strongyloides stercoralis. The en-
Virgement of the lymph nodes was reated
to the dilatation of the sina<
which showed also moderate to severe
degree of hyperplasia of the reticulum
cells.
