Resumo
The authors describe a case of A caninum infection in a child of nine
months of age that hás been born and lives in Goiânia, State of Goiás, who
presented occasional symptoms of irritability, diarrhoea and obstipation.
A dog at lhe house and other dog from vicinity were also founil
parasitized by eggs of ancylostomides and D. caninum. It is spcculated lhat lhe
child hás becn infccted accidentally by thc ingcstion of arthropods from lhe dogs
with thc cisticercoid larvae.
The patient was treated with squashed pumkin seeds (suspension) daily
at the morning, for sevem days and afte with Mebendazol (100 mg) twicc a day for
thrce consecutive days. A large elímination of proglotids was noticcd immedialely
after, followed by rcmission of symptoms.
