Soroprevalência e fatores de risco para toxoplasmose em gestantes na região metropolitana de Goiânia, Goiás, Brasil

Resumo

From each pregnant woman 5ml of peripheral blood were collected. The serologic tests were performed through ELISA IgM and IgG techniques. We used the BioEstat® program version 5.1 for the statistical analysis through the odds ratio calculus with confidence interval of 95% considering significance level of 5%.We found antibody seropositive for IgG class in 421 (41.8%), susceptibility to infection in 586 (58.2%) and IgM class in 60 (6%) of subjects, the later characterizes active infection. The social factors classified as risk factors for positive toxoplasmosis were: Monthly income less than the minimum wage (p=0.002), working at the industry sector (p<0.002), working as housekeeping (p<0.002), number of previous pregnancies (p<0.001), drinking raw milk (p<0.001) and eat artisanal sausages (p=0.003). Here we identified the prevalence of toxoplasmosis in pregnant women as well as the risk factors associated with being seropositive. We identified seropositivity and risk factors for toxoplasmosis in pregnant women, demonstrating the need to reinforce guidance on prophylaxis measures. In addition, it allowed to know the epidemiological profile of pregnant women at metropolitan area of Goiânia-Goiás.
