Resumo

The biology of Psammolestes tenius Lent & Jurberg, 1965 (Hemiptera, Reduviidae) was studied in laboratory in order to obtain information on its potential to multiply and to transmít the Trypanosoma cruzi, The experiments were perfonned in climatized chamber 28±0,1°C, 75±5% of relative humidity and photoperiod of 12 hours. Data in relation to evolution cycle, period between emergency of adults and fírst oviposítion, fecundity, fertility, amount of bloods ingested and fast resistance, are presented. The mean duration of the evolutive cycle for males and females was 81,0 and 80,8 days, respectively. The mean of blood ingested to complete the evolutive cycle was 173,8 mg. The average fecundity was 35,5±18,76 eggs per female, and the percentage of fertile eggs 78,42%. The mean resistence for fast in crescent order of nymphal ínstars was 23,2 ; 26,6; 47,8; 68,0 ; 99,8 and andult was, 41,7 for males, and 33,4 for females.
