Análise das principais micoses encontradas na rotina de um laboratório de análises clínicas na cidade de Jataí, Estado de Goiás, Brasil

Resumo

This study aimed to assess the prevalence of fungal infections in the routine of a midsized clinical laboratory, in Jataí, southwest of Goias. 79,563 examinations were evaluated from July 01, 2010 to February 29, 2012. Among them, 191 were mycological examinations, corresponding to 0.24% of the laboratory routine during the studied period. Among the 191 mycological tests performed, 88 showed positive diagnosis (46% of the sample). The anatomical sites used for diagnosis were: armpit, face, groin, abdomen, arms, scalp, nails and small pustules on the back. Regarding gender, females were most affected; corresponding to a total of 51 confirmed cases (58%), while males accounted 42%. Few data were obtained regarding the classification of these species. Considering that fungal infections are not compulsory notification diseases and that there is a significant information gap in the region, this study highlights the importance of analyzing the main mycoses identified in laboratory routine.
