Características organizacionais da vigilância sanitária municipal e sua relação com os indicadores de saúde

Abstract

This study aimed to verify to what extent the organizational characteristics of municipal health surveillance of Goiás and some socioeconomic variables of municipalities related to health indicators, measured by coefficient of average annual detection rate of notification’s compulsory confirmed diseases in the cities studied in the period of 2006-2010. Participated 53 managers and 335 workers tax of health surveillance of municipalities in the 53 municipalities selected from established criteria. Primary data were obtained through questionnaires, constructed and validated to meet the research objectives, and the side by means of public systems and files created specifically for the purpose of the study. In the statistical treatment we used the SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) for Windows and involved descriptive analysis, correlation, and variance. Some organizational characteristics of health surveillance of municipalities were associated with the detection rate of the diseases investigated. The structural and organizational deficiencies existing in the sector suggest inefficiencies in the performance of the health surveillance’s municipalities at the process of prevention of diseases and disorders that may contribute to increase underreporting within the Health Surveillance System. Overcoming the structural and organizational deficits may contribute to management strengthening, to effective health risk management and to improvements in health indicators.
