Item Soroepidemiologia da infecção por Leptospira spp. Em bovinos, equídeos, caninos e trabalhadores rurais em assentamento no município de Aragominas, Tocantins, Brasil(Universidade Federal de Goiás, 2010-04-10) ARAÚJO, Bruno Medrado; JAYME, Valéria de Sá; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0603234425928309; BRITO, Wilia Marta Elsner Diederichsen de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7605775995731168The main economic activity of the state of Tocantins, in Brazilian Amazon is cattle farms, with extensive breeding. Looking for contribution to cattle sanity, this study was devoted to the prevalence of antibodies against Leptospira in livestock of those farms, as production animals (cattle and equids), dogs and animal workers, from a rural governmental settlement in Aragominas, in the northwestern part of Tocantins. The statistically proofed sample was composed by 242 cows, 78 equids, 59 dogs and 41 animals workers, distributed in 38 small properties. All sampling was performed after informed consent, written in the case of human beings. For the diagnosis of leptospirosis, microscopic seroagglutination was performed in the Laboratório de Diagnóstico de Leptospirose do Setor de Medicina Veterinária Preventiva da Escola de Medicina Veterinária da UFG, Goiânia-GO. The seroprevalence for Leptospira spp in cattle was 76,5% [70,7% 81,7%], with serovar predominance of Hardjo (26,2%), followed by Wolffi (23,4%) Hebdomadis (14,1%), Castellonis (11,7%), Grippotyphosa (9,1%) e Pyrogenes (4,8%). In equids the seroprevalence was 79,3% [68,9% 87,4%], with agglutinins more intense to wild life serovars Castellonis (24,4%), Grippotyphosa (13,7%), Patoc (13,1%), Butembo (8,9%), Pomona (7,1%), Hardjo (6,6%), Pyrogenes (6,6%) e Wolffi (6,6%). Dogs presented seroprevalence of 30,5% [19,2 43,9], prevailing Canicola (26,3%), Hardjo (13,3%), Bratislava (10,0%) and Pyrogenes (10,0%). Human leptospirosis seroprevalence in animal workers was 31,7% [18,1%-48,1%], cwith detections of serovars Hardjo (26,3%), Grippotyphosa (15,8%), Pyrogenes (10,5%), Wolffi (10,5%), Autumnalis (10,5%) e Bratislava (10,5%). Looking for association with environmental and breeding conditions, the seroprevalence was associated in cattle to Bos indicus cattle (OR=7,51; [0,99-56,97]), in equids to the use of antihelminths (OR=7,64[0,95 61,50]) and for dogs with use for shepherd cattle (OR=4,44[1,35 14,58]). These data point to endemicity of Leptospira infection in the area and are highly suggestive of extensive environmental contamination with wildlife and production animal serovars. These results also emphasize the importance of the control of livestock leptospirosis, lowering environmental contamination and allowing better animal sanitation, with measures that could be implemented in new adequate settlements.Item Aspectos epidemiológicos da febre maculosa no município de Quirinópolis, Goiás, Brasil(Universidade Federal de Goiás, 2009-12-21) MARTINS, Márcio Eduardo Pereira; BORGES, Lígia Miranda Ferreira; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2591106734434348; LINHARES, Guido Fontgalland Coelho; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6261928164195145; BRITO, Wilia Marta Elsner Diederichsen de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7605775995731168Rocky Mountain spotted fever (FM), a zoonosis transmitted to humans through the bite of ticks infected with Rickettsia spp. Especially R. rickettsii, emerged in the United States in the late 19th century, been taking place in Brazil in the mid 20th century. Since then, in Brazil the disease, initially diagnosed in São Paulo, became identified focally in some cities, getting to the end of the 20th century restricted states in the Southeast. Already at the beginning of the 21st century FM was first identified in Southern states, focusing in Santa Catarina and also, occasionally, been observed in rare cases that occurred in states in other regions of the country: State Federal, Bahia, Rondônia and Amapá. Given the above, and aiming to collaborate with the service of Epidemiology in Goias, this unprecedented study throughout the Midwest Region, proposes and creates conditions for the first milestone for the monitoring of FM in this State, by means of serological screening with indirect immunofluorescence assay (IFA) in sera of animals and humans, in addition to the research of tick vectors. This study took place in the city of Quirinópolis-GO, and despite not having been detected in the chain reaction polymerase (PCR), ticks infected with Rickettsia spp., the principal vector of FM in Brazil, the tick Amblyomma cajennense, was observed. In previous pilot study conducted in February 2007 in Quirinópolis-GO, serology by IFAT reagents detected in 25% (7 / 28) of humans in a group of individuals cohabiting with a suspected case of FM, which was notified to the Ministry of Health (MOH) of Brazil in 2006, and in 0% (0 / 5) of dogs and 28.6% (12/42) of horses from 3 rural property where the suspect case was before the manifestation of signs of illness. There were two horses positive sera in these three farms. Unable to trace the likely source of infection, but the findings here obtained allowed to suspect that the suspected case of FM has been in one of these two farms the likely source of antigenic contact with bacteria or micro-FM group antigenically similar. Already in scale epidemiological study horses, held in March 2007 on 20 farms, found the prevalence of positive sera of 11.6% (39/335) among horses and the frequency of seropositive 36.6% (15/41 ) between the human and 16.7% (2 / 12) among the dogs from these properties to create horses. Humans here tested HIV positive were asymptomatic for FM at the time of sample collection. It was concluded that the FM, or antigenically similar disease, may be occurring in the State of Goiás, in the City of QuirinópolisItem PERFIL SANITÁRIO DE BOVINOS DA RAÇA CURRALEIRO FRENTE A ENFERMIDADES DE IMPORTÂNCIA ECONÔMICA(Universidade Federal de Goiás, 2008-06-20) SANTIN, Ana Paula Iglesias; KIPNIS, Ana Paula Junqueira; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1252262903952987; FIORAVANTI, Maria Clorinda Soares; http://lattes.cnpq.br/8772502020076257; BRITO, Wilia Marta Elsner Diederichsen de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7605775995731168Com o objetivo de ampliar os conhecimentos sobre os aspectos sanitários de bovinos da raça Curraleiro, foi realizado o estudo comparativo entre animais Curraleiros e outras raças bovinas (Guzerá, Nelore, Girolando e Caracu), em relação a enfermidades de importância econômica e epidemiológica para pecuária. Para tanto avaliou-se a ocorrência de eventual diferença no perfil sanitário destes animais através de pesquisa de anticorpos para B. abortus, Leptospira spp, Neospora caninum, Toxoplasma gondii, vírus da leucose enzoótica bovina (BLV), herpesvírus bovino-1(BHV-1), vírus da diarréia viral bovina (BVDV) e realização de reação intradérmica para Mycobacterium bovis. As fêmeas bovinas eram provenientes de propriedades localizadas em Goiás e Tocantins e na região de divisa entre Goiás, Minas Gerais e Bahia (Trijunção). Em relação às doenças bacterianas, nenhum dos animais foi reagente para brucelose e tuberculose. Por outro lado, todas as propriedades estudadas apresentaram animais sororreagentes para Leptospira, N. caninum, T. gondii, BLV, BHV-1 e BVDV. Ao se comparar o Curraleiro com as outras raças separadamente, verificou-se para leptospirose que houve um número significativamente maior de animais sororreagentes da raça Guzerá. Em relação à neosporose os Curraleiros apresentaram um número significativamente maior de bovinos sororreagentes do que a raça Guzerá e Nelore. Resultado semelhante foi observado na toxoplasmose ao se comparar o Curraleiro com o Caracu. Para as demais enfermidades a resposta sorológica foi semelhante entre os Curraleiros e as outras raças. Para leucose enzoótica bovina ainda foram avaliados os níveis de proteínas totais, de frações protéicas, além da contagem de leucócitos e linfócitos, sendo os resultados comparados entre animais reagentes e não reagentes ao BLV, independente da raça. No entanto só foi observada diferença significativa em relação à gamaglobulina que encontrava-se aumentada em bovinos sororreagentes e os linfócitos, que apesar de apresentarem-se dentro dos padrões considerados normais estavam com níveis mais elevados nos animais soropositivosItem Identificação de herpesvírus bovino em amostras de cérebro(Universidade Federal de Goiás, 2011-02-24) SILVA, Duanne Alves da; BRITO, Luiz Augusto Batista; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3212353728321020; BRITO, Wilia Marta Elsner Diederichsen de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7605775995731168Herpetic meningoencephalitis is an infection of the central nervous system caused by bovine herpesvirus 5 (BoHV-5) despite BoHV-1 also being associated with this pathology. The course of the disease is usually fatal. Meningoencephalitis has caused significant economic burden to the Brazilian cattle industry due to its high mortality rate, especially in young animals. Because of cross-reactivity and the absence of an effective serological test that differentiates types 1 and 5 of herpesvirus, the actual prevalence of infection with both viruses is unknown. It is estimated that some animals, supposedly infected with type 1, may be seropositive for type 5. For a better understanding of the molecular epidemiology of this virus in Goiás, 110 brain samples of young cattle, that died with neurological signs, referred to the reference laboratory of the State of Goiás for rabies diagnosis in 2008, were analyzed by multiplex PCR to amplify the glycoprotein C (gC) region of the BoHV-1 and -5 DNA. Of the 110 samples, 53.6% were positive for bovine herpesvirus. Of these, 22.0% were positive for BoHV-1, whereas 52.5% were positive for BoHV-5. Furthermore, 13.6% of samples showed co-infection for types 1 and 5. Among these, one sample came from a buffalo. Positivity for both bovine herpesvirus and rabies virus was observed in 53.3% of samples. This study showed that BoHV-1 and -5 are circulating among cattle in the State of Goiás and that herpesvirus type 1 can also be encephalitogenic. Although there was no evidence of viral replication, after inoculation of all 20 brain samples in cell culture, the possibility of viruses being associated with neurological disease cannot be ruled out. This was the first study to demonstrate the presence of BoHV-1 and BoHV-5 in samples obtained from herds in Goiás.
