Resumo

This thesis is the result of my research in the Postgraduate Program in Cultural Performances - Interdisciplinary Area - at the Faculty of Social Sciences/UFG. Here I present reflections and exercises that are not only theoretical but involve tactility and experience as processes that contributed to studies on the British director Edward Gordon Craig. I also point out the reflections of the Finnish architect Juhani Pallasmaa and the British sociologist Dr. Tomoko Tamari on the multisensory aspects in architecture. As a general objective, I investigate the organization of the space of the Craigian scene in its material, phenomenological, multisensory and experiential bases, highlighting affect, memory, experience and tactility as phenomena that preceded its materialization. I also start with my own drawings, models and other experiments, in an examination and reconstruction of part of Gordon Craig's scenographic repertoire. Of an exploratory, bibliographic and imagery nature, this thesis presents a perspective originating in the principles of architectural thought in its material and symbolic processes of space organization, based on assumptions that indicate the presence of affections, memories, experiences and tactility in the work by Gordon Craig. I conclude, finally, that Gordon Craig materializes affection, memory, experience through tactility in the scene, as well as organizing and presenting his new theater and his new scene as architectural and existential spaces in a sensitive performance.
