Resumo

With increasing population and world economy, the demand for energy is increasing (EPE, 2019). Currently, most of the world's energy demand (about 75%) is supplied through the use of fossil fuels, which lead to a significant increase in CO2 levels in the atmosphere. Fossil fuels are not renewable, so the need for clean, carbon-free and renewable alternative energy sources (PAGLIARO et al 2010). Hydrogen is a chemical element with large capacity to store energy. And in this work ruthenium complexes with bi- and tridentate pyridine-pyrazole ligands capable of oxidizing the water molecule were developed. The challenge is that the ligands must be able to acquire an approximately linear arrangement necessary to form a heptacoordinate pentagonal bipyramidal arrangement. Four polypyridine pyrazole ligands and four unpublished complexes were synthesized, (P3) [Ru(bPyPz)(DMSO)Cl2](Cl), (CF1) [Ru(bPyPz)2](Cl2), (CF2) [Ru(bPyPz)(bpy)Cl](Cl2) e (CF3) [Ru(bPyPz)(L2)Cl]2+(Cl2). The methods of characterization of the compounds were 1H NMR, infrared vibrational spectrometry and visible ultraviolet spectroscopy.
