Item Biblioteca escolar, necessidade e busca de informação: estudo sobre o comportamento informacional dos estudantes da rede privada de ensino na cidade de Goiânia(Universidade Federal de Goias, 2010) Santos, Tatyane Cristina Camargo dosItem Busca e uso de informação no contexto escolar: estudo de comportamento informacional de estudantes da 2ª fase do ensino fundamental(Universidade Federal de Goias, 2010) Viana, Caio Filgueiras; Araújo, Eliany Alvarenga de; Fialho, Janaína Ferreira; Araújo, Eliany Alvarenga deThe information behavior is the subject of a multidisciplinary study involving activities of search, use and transfer of information, in which a person engages when identifying their own information needs. The research in the field of information behavior is intended to identify and discuss patterns of informational behavior in different fields of knowledge and involves concepts such as needs, search and use of information and factors that influence them, as well as more adequate methods to be applied in the research. Beginning with a review of concepts that relate to information behavior, several theoretical models of the subject are presented in this study, among them Brenda Dervin‟s, Tom Wilson‟s and Carol Kuhlthau‟s. Of these, the one chosen was that of Carol Kuhlthau as theoretical support for the intended task. With its constructivist concept it proved to be the best framework for implementing the work with second year students of the “Colégio Salesiano Ateneu Dom Bosco” in Goiânia, and most appropriate for understanding the phenomena that are associated with the process of seeking information about them, described by Kuhlthau in six stages: initiation, selection, exploration, formulation, data collection and presentation. The survey was characterized as an exploratory and descriptive study, with qualitative and quantitative touch. The sample consisted of 61% (sixty-one percent) of the estimated population of 119 second year students of the school of “Colégio Salesiano Ateneu Dom Bosco” in Goiânia, which is 73 students. Data were collected from the questionnaires, with open and closed questions, within the premise of the school during the month of September 2010. The results showed that most students experienced positive feelings during all stages of research, especially because of their familiarity with the subject matter and because the teacher made sure the objective of the work was clear from the beginning. Within this context, we sought to expand the study based on information behavior, making sure the library and the librarian were involved during the development of the research, and it was noted that this participation was small, highlighting the insignificant role that both played during the research process of the students.
