Item Estudantes mães e sua permanência no curso de Pedagogia da Faculdade de Educação da Universidade Federal de Goiás(Universidade Federal de Goiás, 2022-04-13) Marinacci, Eliana Soares; Moraes, Karine Nunes de; Moraes, Karine Nunes de; Valdez, DianeWomen are occupying spaces that once were exclusive to men. They went out of the domestic label and entered the labor market, and other public spaces as well, standing out at University education for showing better enrollment and graduation numbers regarding men, however, they face difficulties in arranging family, studies and work. In this context, this case study identified and analyzed the main difficulties faced by student mothers cursing the eighth semester of the Universidade Federal de Goiás’s (FE/UFG) Pedagogy course. This research also investigated the demands sent from these students towards the course coordination, intending to comprehend how the coordination deals with those demands and which are the specific institutional actions to help student mothers remain and complete the course. The results showed that student mothers live with on a work overload caused by the responsibility accumulation, being one of the main reasons for complaints in request for cancellation of disciplines sent to the Pedagogy course coordination. This research has also shown that the specific institutional actions to student mothers are unknown to the majority, and need more divulgation at the debates and academicals discussions. The research pointed out as the main difficulties faced by student mothers at graduation: responsibility accumulation; difficulty at reconciling work and studies; difficulty with organization and/or time between work, studies and motherhood; financial problems; and lack of support. This research concluded that, to the most part of student mothers from the FE/UFG Pedagogy course, the University education is an income and opportunity improvement path on the work market and, subsequently, on their life conditions.
