    O programa de pós-graduação em Performances Culturais da UFG: formação de artistas e debate sobre performances negras

    The Graduate Program in Cultural Performances at UFG was created in 2012 within the interdisciplinary area of CAPES, at EMAC, as an alternative training option for arts professionals in Goiânia. It was transferred to the Faculty of Social Sciences and, in 2025, to the Media Lab/UFG, when it became known as the Graduate Program in Arts, Cultures and Technologies. Despite the institutional changes, its interdisciplinary vocation and its contribution to the training of diverse artists are evident. This article highlights the work of Black female researchers and the production of studies that articulate Cultural Performances and Black identity, presenting a literature review and an overview of the constitution, transformations, and permanence of the Program in relation to the notion of Black Performances.

    Curricular change as a battle strategy: teaching dance historiographies instead of dance history

    This text proposes recommendations for revising the “History of Art,” “History of Dance,” and “History of Dance in Brazil” courses in the undergraduate dance curriculum at the Federal University of Goiás, implemented in 2022. To this end, the revision process considers 20th-century historiographical advancements, the Latin American decolonial perspective, and contemporary dialogue with dance historians. This study employed a multifaceted methodology incorporating bibliographic review, contextualized analysis, and a mixed-method approach for conducting historical content classes that foster historiographical knowledge. The text proposes arguments for rethinking dance history pedagogy, as well as the theoretical-practical proposal to shift course titles from “history” to “historiographies.”

    The performative aspects of biomaterials: biodegradable manioc (cassava) starch costumes for performances of regeneration

    This article discusses experiments with manioc (cassava) starch bioplastic, focusing on its material agency and cultural symbolism in Brazil. It describes empirical material experiments with cassava starch bioplastic recipes and the addition of other ingredients, aiming to control its qualities and formulate recipes that would be effective for a range of possible actions in performance. We tested recipes to achieve greater traction and durability, varying levels of flexibility, hardness or softness, water solubility or waterproofing, as well as the material’s degradation time (with the presence of microorganisms). The article also presents performance demonstrations created with these cassava starch bioplastic results worn as costumes, reflecting on the inherent cultural symbolism of the tuber in Brazil. The results of these tests and performative explorations were showcased in workshops at the Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design 2023 and University Festival of Scenic Arts of Goiás (FUGA, 2023) in Brazil.
