(2025) Modesto, Ana Carolina Figueiredo; Lopes, Luis Phillipe Nagem; Pantuzza, Laís Lessa Neiva; Moura, Mariana Del Grossi; Oliveira, Jardel Corrêa de; Lopes, Luciane Cruz
Objective To map instruments for assessing healthcare professionals’ knowledge, attitudes and practices regarding deprescribing. Introduction Deprescribing is essential for improving patient outcomes by managing polypharmacy, reducing fall risks and decreasing medication costs. However, there is a limited exploration of healthcare professionals’ perspectives about deprescribing. Methods and analysis Studies involving healthcare professionals directly involved in the medication use process (nurses, pharmacists and physicians) will be included, while those in which it is not possible to identify the professional will be excluded. Any definition of deprescribing, as well as any stage of the deprescribing process, will be included, and those without a clear definition of deprescribing will be excluded. Studies employing instruments for assessing the knowledge, attitudes and practices of healthcare professionals regarding deprescribing, whether validated or not, will be included. Studies focusing on deprescribing algorithms will be excluded. Studies in any healthcare setting will be included. Data will be presented as absolute and relative frequencies, a world heatmap, heatmaps, bar plots or as a word cloud when appropriate. Ethics and dissemination The findings from this review will be discussed with stakeholders and healthcare professionals directly involved in deprescribing processes. Additionally, the results will be disseminated through publications and conference presentations.

The potential of an integrated pharmaceutical care model with telepharmacy in adherence and knowledge about pharmacological treatment in patients with mental disorders: a clinical trial
(2025) Carvalho, Nubia Cristina Burgo Godoi de; Modesto, Ana Carolina Figueiredo; Provin, Mercia Pandolfo
The level of understanding about disease and treatment is an important factor to consider in achieving favorable outcomes in patients with mental disorders, and adherence to pharmacological treatment is crucial in this regard. The aim of this study was to assess to what extent patients with MD undergoing an integrated pharmaceutical care model with telepharmacy showed improvements in factors related to treatment adherence and their level of knowledge about pharmacotherapy. A parallel randomized clinical trial was conducted with a two-arm study in two Psychosocial Care Centers located in a state capital in Brazil. Participants in the intervention group received a comprehensive pharmaceutical care model that included attitudinal, technical, and educational interventions, while the control group received standard routine care. Predictive factors for adherence to pharmacological treatment and level of medication knowledge were assessed before and after the intervention. In the intervention group (33), significant improvements were found in the scores of adherence predictors (p<0.001) and the level of knowledge of pharmacotherapy (p<0.001) from baseline to follow-up, compared to the control group (33). The telepharmacy model demonstrated effectiveness in enhancing the scores of adherence predictors for pharmacological treatment and improving the level of knowledge of pharmacotherapy among patients with mental disorders. Association between the profile of patients with chronic myeloid leukemia and adherence to tyrosine kinase inhibitors
(2025) Moreira, Pryscila Rodrigues; Farias, Leonardo Teodoro de; Ferreira, Tatyana Xavier Almeida Matteucci; Costa, Raiza Guimarães; Lacerda, Stanley Pontes de; Palitot, Mariana Monteiro; Modesto, Ana Carolina Figueiredo
Background: Tyrosine kinase inhibitors have substantially improved the quality of life and survival of patients with chronic myeloid leukemia. However, adherence is a complex and crucial aspect for achieving the desired clinical outcomes. Various factors can influence adherence, including the knowledge about the medications used in treatment. Aim: To investigate the association between the clinical, sociodemographic and pharmacotherapeutic profile of patients with chronic myeloid leukemia and adherence to tyrosine kinase inhibitors. Method: This is a cross-sectional study conducted in a specialized outpatient clinic for hematological diseases in the Central-West region of Brazil. Treatment adherence was assessed using the Morisky medication adherence scale and the medication possession ratio. A binary logistic regression was performed to investigate the extent to which adherence could be adequately predicted by the independent variables. Results: The study included 153 patients, with a mean age of 51.8 years and a predominance of males (59.5%). Low adherence was observed in 56.2% of patients (Morisky scale) and 24.8% (medication possession ratio). Among the predictors, being male increased the chances of low adherence by 2.22 times and having comorbidities by 2.17 times. Conversely, an increase in diagnosis time was associated with a 0,09 decrease in the chances of low adherence and “Knowing what to do if you miss a dose” was associated with a 0,58 lower chance of low adherence. Conclusion: Our study emphasized that adherence can vary depending on the method used and that predictors related to clinical, sociodemographic and pharmacotherapeutic characteristics may be associated with low adherence.

Cross-cultural adaptation to Brazilian Portuguese of the indication for common toxicity criteria grading of peripheral neuropathy questionnaire
(2025) Farias, Leonardo Teodoro de; Moreira, Pryscila Rodrigues; Iwasse, Alline dos Santos; Souza, Luana Clara de; Silverio, Raira Macario; Silva, Lunara Teles; Ferreira, Tatyana Xavier Almeida Matteucci; Tavares, Renato Sampaio; Modesto, Ana Carolina Figueiredo
Background: Multiple myeloma (MM) is a common hematological malignancy, and chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) is one of its most significant adverse drug reactions. While CIPN can be managed through dose adjustments or treatment discontinuation, its assessment relies on patient-reported symptoms. The need for validated tools to accurately assess CIPN and support clinical decisions is critical to improving patient outcomes and ensuring more effective management strategies. Aim: To perform the cross-cultural adaptation of the Indication for Common Toxicity Criteria Grading of Peripheral Neuropathy Questionnaire (ICPNQ) to Brazilian Portuguese. Method: The cross-cultural adaptation process was conducted in five stages: (a) translation, (b) synthesis of translations, (c) submission of the translated version to a panel of experts, (d) pre-testing with the target population, and (e) backtranslation into the original language. Results: The translation team included a specialist in onco-hematology, and the adapted version of the ICPNQ was evaluated by 20 healthcare professionals (nurses, pharmacists, and physicians) with an average of 9.5 years of experience in onco-hematology. The Content Validity Index (CVI) of the overall instrument was 0.98, while the CVIs for presentation and clarity were 0.98, and 0.97 for applicability. A pilot test was performed with 22 patients with MM in a specialized outpatient clinic for onco-hematological diseases in a university hospital. The patients were predominantly male (54.55%), over 65 years (59.09%), and using at least one neurotoxic drug (81.82%). Back-translation confirmed the semantic and cultural equivalence of the instrument’s items. Conclusion: The Brazilian Portuguese version of the ICPNQ demonstrates semantic, idiomatic, cultural, and conceptual equivalence, suitable for application in the Brazilian context.

Barriers to mental health services for children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder in Brazil: protocol for a qualitative evidence synthesis and citizen panel (BARRIER-Free-BR Project)
(2025) Lopes, Luis Phillipe Nagem; Boeira, Laura dos Santos; Modesto, Ana Carolina Figueiredo; Silva, Alice Ramos Oliveira da; Menin, Victória Paulo; Abe, Flávia Casale; Lopes, Luciane Cruz
Introduction The perspectives of stakeholders directly affected by mental health services for autism spectrum disorder (ASD) are essential for the quality of these services. However, it is crucial that these perspectives are informed by the best available evidence and adapted to the local context. This study aims to analyse barriers related to mental health services for children and adolescents with ASD from the perspective of families and caregivers, considering social, racial and gender aspects. Methods Three steps will be taken: stakeholder engagement through an online meeting to refine the research question and understand the magnitude of the problem; (b) qualitative evidence synthesis using five databases and grey literature to identify studies that have collected and analysed qualitative data on barriers to mental health services for children and adolescents with ASD in Brazil. Only studies conducted in Brazil that consider the perspectives of family members and caregivers will be included. (c) A citizen panel with families of children and adolescents with ASD will be used to discuss and validate the synthesis findings. Ethics and dissemination We will provide a set of evidence-informed and stakeholder-experienced barriers to mental health services for children with ASD in Brazil. This represents an effort to engage stakeholders in evidence descriptions to inform policy. We plan to disseminate the findings through various means, including peer-reviewed journal publications, presentations at national conferences, invited workshops and webinars, patient associations and academic social media platforms. The project was approved by the Ethics Committee for Research at the University of Sorocaba (approval number 78747224.7.0000.5500).

Objective: To analyze confirmed cases of dengue in Goiás, Brazil between 2015 and 2022 and to estimate the risk of new outbreaks until 2026. Methods: A time series study using data from the Notifiable Diseases Information System (SINAN) was conducted. Monthly records of cases confirmed by laboratory or clinical-epidemiological criteria were included. The Seasonal Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (SARIMA) model was applied using the R software (v.4.2.1). Stationarity, trend, seasonality, residual autocorrelation, and model fit were evaluated, with estimates obtained by maximum likelihood and 95% confidence intervals. Results: During the study period, 709,270 confirmed cases were recorded. Epidemics occurred cyclically every two years, with peaks in 2015 (101,261), 2016 (82,077), 2018 (70,794), 2019 (107,589), and 2022 (189,998), interspersed with years of lower incidence such as 2017 and the COVID-19 pandemic years (2020–2021). Serotype replacement was observed preceding major outbreaks. The SARIMA model showed good fit (Akaike Information Criterion – 1768.9; Bayesian Information Criterion – 1786.8) and predicted new peaks in 2025 (177,775 cases) and 2026 (224,100 cases). Conclusion: Dengue in Goiás displayed recurrent epidemic cycles, pointing to an increase in cases and reinforcing the need for integrated strategies based on prevention and control. The SARIMA model proved useful for surveillance and public health planning, although its accuracy may be influenced by external factors.

Eventos adversos a inibidores de tirosina quinase no tratamento da leucemia mieloide crônica no Brasil: análise das notificações do Vigimed
(2026) Freitas, Ariel Silvestre; Júlio, Cairo Domingos Júlio; Moreira, Pryscila Rodrigues; Oliveira Junior, Ronaldo Rodrigues de; Silva, Lunara Teles; Modesto, Ana Carolina Figueira
Introduction: Tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) have revolutionized the treatment of Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML); however, they are associated with adverse drug reactions (ADRs) that can affect multiple systems. Pharmacovigilance is essential for monitoring drug safety, yet it faces challenges such as incomplete reports, which compromise the identification of risks and the implementation of regulatory measures. Objective: To describe ADR reports related to CML pharmacotherapy recorded in the VigiMed system in Brazil. Method: This is a descriptive study based on the VigiMed database from 2018 to 2021. Variables such as sex, age, type of TKI, seriousness, and ADR profile were evaluated. exploratory data analysis and descriptive statistics (measures of central tendency and proportions) were performed using R and RStudio software. Results: Among 65,534 ADR reports, only 0.3% (n = 196) were related to TKI use. It was observed that 41.6% (n = 15) of the variables had more than 50.0% missing data, most of which were related to information about the medications. Conversely, 30.5% (n = 11) of the variables were complete, predominantly those associated with the reporting process. The drug nilotinib accounted for 57.6% of the reports, followed by imatinib with 41.3%, while no reports were identified for third-generation TKIs. There was a predominance of male individuals (70.4%, n = 138) with a mean age of 55.2 years. Skin and subcutaneous disorders were the most frequently reported events, while hematological disorders were associated with hospitalizations. Conclusions: The study highlights the presence of incomplete data and the need to improve the quality of reports in order to strengthen regulatory actions.
