Resumo
The paper discusses brief history of ways to store and record knowledge through the parchment and papyrus. Over time, the records began to suffer from degradation of their material support and through research on the subject, came to choosing the theme for the work that is based on forms of degradation, their physical, biological factors and methods conservation and prevention of bibliographic and documentary collections printed in general. However, the goal of the work is summarized in bibliographic research was achieved and evidenced safeguard documents that may contain policies for the preservation and conservation in all environments that have collections.
