Resumo
The impact of the swine industry on the world
economy, specially in Brazil, where more and more the
production is being addressed for the industrial scale, makes
indispensable the control of diseases that affect economical
profits; among them those that affect reproductive process,
like urinary infection (UI), are the most important. The
present experiment was carried out to describe histological
changings in the urinary system of 35 sows. Samples were
collected from 35 Landrace sows, raised in five farms located
in the State of Goiás, Brazil. In the UFG laboratories the
histological procedures were conducted. In a total of 35
examined samples, in 9 females (25,7%) normal kidneys and
bladders were observed; in the others (26, 74,3%) tecidual
alterations were verified, and predominated a combination
of cystitis and interstitial nephritis (10/35, 28,6%).
