Cimento de ionômero de vidro: efeitos de diferentes períodos de tempo sobre a resistência à tração diametral

Resumo

Objective: To evaluate the conservation status and power density of the light-curing units available at the School Objective: To evaluate the Diametral Tensile Strength (DTS) of conventional glass ionomer cement in different periods of time. Methods: The specimens to the RTD test arrays were fabricated in stainless (6.0mm diameter x 3.0mm height) according to specification #9917 ISO. The system of proportioning GIC-C powder-liquid dosage (flat scoop: drop) was tested. The specimens were stored in plastic containers distilled water at 37º C and 100% of humidity in a stove until testing: 1 hour, 24 hours and 7 days. The specimens were tested in a testing machine (Instron Corp., EUA) at a crosshead speed of 0.5 mm/min for the DTS test until failure occurred. The data were submitted to one-way ANOVA and Tukey tests (P<0.05). Results: The conventional GICs tested presented increase in DTS in the different periods of time 1 hour, 24 hours and 7 days. Significant differences were detected between the periods of time1 hour and 7 days (P=0,024). Conclusion: The increase of DTS of the GICs-C was influenced by storage time.
