Resumo

The contemporary world requires and even provides mechanisms that enable better resourcefulness in the academic environment and consequently, in the professional, example of this, are the Information Technologies (IT) which demonstrate that in the areas of expertise, especially in the accounting sciences, technical knowledge is not enough, but it is necessary to integrate IT skills since university education, which modifies learning behaviors of all agents involved in educational processes. This study sought to highlight the role of IT skill in undergraduate accounting curricula and how educators integrate it in teaching and learning. Research has shown that development of IT skills in accounting education has been discussed for years, and there are guidelines in this regard, despite their limited application, beyond the teacher's responsibility to conduct and possess such skills. The key factors were presented, according to scholars, of success and failure in the integration of IT in accounting curricula. The causes are related to the absence or low innovation in research, teaching methods and accounting curricula, and the result, students entering the job market with accounting knowledge, but lacking other skills. For the teacher, mediator of the acquisition of IT skills, and the actors involved in the educational processes, it is up to changing paradigms, providing teaching skills for an inclusion, a sense of community, learning and mutual support, among other findings of the study.
