Resumo

The present work is a theoretical bibliographic study with the objective of carrying out reflections on the fundamental categories for the constitution of knowledge of school Physical Education: work, knowledge and science. To arrive at this debate, we trace a path divided into two chapters, aiming to understand work as a central and founding category of the human being and of the objectifications constituted in the very process of the social being, such as the various forms of knowledge. Finally, in the final considerations, notes and reflections are raised on a search for the legitimacy of Physical Education as a scientific knowledge from the categories presented in this analysis. For this, the work was designed and elaborated from a study on the social theory of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, especially in the works Economic-Philosophical Manuscripts of 1844 (MARX, 2010), The German Ideology of 1845-1846 (MARX; ENGELS, 2007). . Support was sought from commentators who appropriated Marxian ideas, especially Ricardo Antunes (ANTUNES, 2005), Marcel Farias de Sousa (SOUSA, 2020).
