Resumo

This article aims to verify the presence of Brazilian museums on Facebook and to map the uses of this tool by these institutions. In order to do so, we sought to categorize museum posts by checking the most frequent types of posts and also the publications that provoked a greater number of interactions through reactions and comments. With this analysis we hope to contribute to the reflection about the use of Facebook as a tool in the context of Brazilian museums and of their current forms of appropriation, thus encouraging the production of new communication strategies in closer dialogue with their institutional reality and technical possibilities of execution, for greater effectiveness in fostering new forms of encounters and social proximity with their potential public.
