Resumo
This paper has analysis made in the Masters dissertation “Working beauty: the relationship between domestic workers and the media, beauty and consumerism”. This research assumed that the media works as a mediator between people and the world around them, in a society overwhelmed by consuming appeals. Thus it sought to understand which are the consumer strategies used by low-income women - in this case, domestic workers – to feel like they belong in the beauty standards reverberated by media and culture.
