Resumo
This report book addresses the discussion about how the exposure of soccer-related
candidates by the media influences the electoral process. To which extent may a player use
his job to take advantage in the elections? The presence of footballers in politics has been
increasingly common, but this phenomenon would not be possible without the press
spotlights, which show the athletes as real celebrities. This study was performed based on
soccer player/candidate Tulio Maravilha‟s great exposure on Diario da Manhã newspaper
during 2008 electoral period, when he was the third of Goiânia‟s most voted aldermen.
