Resumo
Isotretinoin or 13-cis-retinoic acid is a member of the large group of Vitamin A related compounds.
Due to its effect on regulating cell differentiation it has been used for the treatment of cystic and nodular acne and
also as an inhibitor of neoplasic cells proliferation. This paper describes a gas chromatography method used for the
assay of isotretinoin in its isolated form and in pharmaceutical formulations. Results showed that the method
exhibited a high efficiency to determine the quality of isotretinoin in raw materials and in pharmaceuticals.
