Violência como comunicação: estudo metateórico da comunicação preterlinguística

Abstract

This article offers a critical reflection on violence as a form of communication, challenging the classical separation between language and aggression. Drawing on the metatheory of communicational tensions (Signates, 2025) and Braga’s (2017) axiom that communication precedes language, it argues that violence — whether symbolic, structural, or physical — can be understood as a primitive communicational act. This perspective highlights violence as a constitutive element of communicational dynamics, capable of producing meanings, bonds, and social imprints. Rather than legitimizing violence, the analysis seeks to advance its critical understanding within communication studies.
