Resumo
Growing concern about the environmental impacts of conventional plastics has driven the search
for more sustainable alternatives, such as bioplastics, which degrade more efficiently and without
releasing toxic substances. This study investigates the use of natural additives, especially
anthocyanins, in bioplastics in order to optimize their antioxidant and antimicrobial properties.
Anthocyanins, phenolic compounds present in dark-colored fruits, are explored for their potential
to slow microbial growth and indicate pH changes. The research discusses how the incorporation
of these substances can influence the biodegradability of bioplastics and highlights the importance
of understanding the changes in the structure and characteristics of the materials to ensure their
proper decomposition in the environment. The study concludes that, despite the great potential of
anthocyanins and other natural additives, more research is needed to optimize their properties and
maximize the environmental benefits of bioplastics.
