Resumo

This article approaches the discussion about the importance of the study of local space and its representation, from municipal school atlases. It is a research that has been developed in partnership between the Federal University of Goiás in Brazil and the Pedagogical University of Mozambique, with funding from the Federal Government through CAPES / MEC. The objective of this work is to investigate the formative process of the Elementary School I teacher and of the Basic Education that works in the public school system, as well as the construction of geographic knowledge, from the mediation with the municipal school atlas of Goiânia / Brazil and Of Maputo / Mozambique. The research development methodology consists of a bibliographical survey, with theoretical and methodological references, focused on School Cartography, teacher training and Geography teaching, up to date surveys of primary and secondary sources on the municipalities in Question - Goiânia and Maputo. The data collected do not only concern the curricular demands, but also seek to take into account the local specificities, which means that the material contains different approaches to students' daily lives. Recent research carried out by our team showed that the use of municipal school atlas (printed) comes every day, contributing to teacher training and citizenship building.
