The intestinal infections caused by Cryptosporidium parvum,
Cyclospora sp., Isospora belli and species of intestinal Microsporidia are frequent in
immunocompromised patients, but they can also attack in immunocompetent
individuals, causing similar enteric clinical pictures. The differential laboratorial
diagnosis of these etiological agents is essential in the choice of the therapeutic handling
and in the prognostic of the infection. Aiming this fact, we tried to determine the
existence of the laboratorial diagnosis of these emerging agents in the private
laboratories net in covenant to Health Unique System – SUS, Goiânia – GO. Among the
most expressive findings it was verified that only five (19%) accomplish diagnosis for
intestinal Coccidian and that none accomplishes identification of spores of
Microsporidia. This fact configures the complete indifference or lack of knowledge in
the laboratorial diagnosis of these emerging intestinal agents in the private laboratories
net in covenant to Health Unique System – SUS in Goiânia – GO.
