Resumo

This article shows as the main theme: linguistic variations in Portuguese teaching. Reflecting the proposals contained in the BNCC (National Base of Common Curriculum) and how academic books at the end of Junior High meet up the requirements of the official curriculum document. These reflections are based upon the studies of Bakhtin (2011); Antunes (2003); Martelotta (2012); Bagno (2007); Geraldi (1997), Falsarella (2004) among many others. Methodology: The emphasis will be in the analysis of aspects that we consider of great relevance for the teaching of Portuguese in a Junior level class, having in mind the achievable goal to help and assist college students and Portuguese professors. Help them to think critically about the bullet points presented in the BNCC concerning the linguistic variation and those shown in academic books. The body of this article will be as a manual of instructions to professors of seventh grade (PNLD 2020), updated after the new BNCC. The analysis is made out of a single book. However, all considerations in this study can be made and applied thru all grades in High School. Therefore, the methodology used will be a study of linguistic variation such as the one presented in the academic book, applying the tools of the authors named above. RESULTS: It has come to a conclusion that the BNCC, in relation to the Portuguese language teaching, approached the theme of linguistic variation as a constitutive factor of human languages. Prioritizing the necessity to observe and evaluate the diversity under all aspects that are part of student’s lives. Hence, there are evidences towards the existence of a mismatch concerning the approach taken between academic books and all the theories supported by the BNCC.
