Dia dos tipos, noite dos tristes: um livro ilustrado inspirado nas experimentações d’O gráfico amador

Abstract

This research aims to produce a book printed in typography, incorporating elements of the editorial experiments and compositional methods of O Gráfico Amado, a workshop composed of intellectuals and artists who worked in Recife in the 1950s, and the book “Experimentando tipos em homenagem a “O Gráfico Amador”, which recaps the studio’s production. The research seeks to highlight the relevance of this production to the history of typography and graphic design in Brazil. The content of the book will be the lyrics of the song “Noite dos sadnesses”, by the band “Carne Doce” from Goiás, exploring the relationship between text and image through production techniques that dialogue with tradition and innovation. Based on bibliographic and documentary research, the importance of independent initiatives that shaped Brazilian graphic design is highlighted.
