Resumo
Geodiversity represents the diversity of geological environments, phenomena and active processes that give rise to landscapes, rocks, minerals, fossils, soils and other surface deposits that support life on Earth. Part of the geodiversity that presents special characteristics constitutes the geological heritage of a certain region characterizing odd occurrences that demarcate an important moment of evolution of the planet Earth. Mining has always been an important activity in Brazil, especially for the state of Goiás in view that the occupation of the state began in the XVIII century from the gold exploration. This article aims to inventory the occurrence of geosites related to the history of mining in the state of Goiás in the Gold Region. Ten geosites were identified and characterized in the municipalities of Pirenópolis and Goiás related to gold mining in the 18th and 19th centuries and quartzite mining as ornamental rock.
