Resumo
This work aims to critically-proactively analyze the teaching material used in Sociology classes at
the High School level, at the Center for Teaching and Applied Research in Education of the Federal
University of Goiás (CEPAE-UFG), through textual and image-based surveys, focusing on the
content about "culture" and its developments. With this, I point out the potentialities and gaps of
the material. By mobilizing indigenous authors, the work aims to broaden the discussion on
teaching culture in basic education. The selected volume is actively used in the mentioned school.
Its choice was made due to direct contact with the material during my training process in the
internship courses, a mandatory curricular component of the Social Sciences Teaching Degree. The
results indicate an absence of diversity in the textual and visual references, however, it is
concluded that the teaching material in question is a supportive tool for the educator, even with its
shortcomings.
