Avaliação das atividades angiogênica, antiangiogênica, genotóxica e antigenotóxica da spirulina

Resumo

Objective: to evaluate the angiogenic, antiangiogenic, genotoxic and antigenotoxic potential of Spirulina. Material and Methods: To evaluate angiogenesis and antiangiogenesis, embryonated chicken eggs were used. For the genotoxicity tests, the micronucleus test was performed in mice treated intraperitoneally, with doses of 1000 mg kg-1, 500 mg kg-1 and 250 mg kg-1 of the aqueous solution of Spirulina, within 24 hours, concomitant with doxyrubicin. Results: the Spirulina solution in the three doses used, caused a significant decrease in the percentage area of the vascular network in the chorioallantoic membrane, when compared to the positive control, demonstrating antiangiogenic activity. The Spirulina solution also showed genotoxic activity at the three concentrations. When tested for antigenotoxic potential, the study showed a significant decrease in micronucleus frequency in 4000 EPC, thus showing an antigenotoxic activity. Conclusion: the Spirulina solution has antiangiogenic potential at the concentrations tested, showing genotoxic and antigenotoxic activity.
