Resumo
In chemistry classes, experiments generate information that is typically collected through thevision such as weighing and temperature measurements. Such activities are considered problematic forthe visually impaired as we use usually the vision as a tool for data collection. Assistive technologycan be a means of neutralizing accessibility related barriers of disability, providing more autonomy tothe development of these students in these environments. This research deals with the design of athermometer and it’s use to discuss the melting point, boiling point and density of substances in the Brazilian Center for Rehabilitation and Support Visually Impaired, in Goiânia. The present workcontains elements of action research, it was born from a need to practice: teaching chemistry tovisually impaired through experiments. Our results show that the visually impaired participate inexperiments and organize their knowledge as any other individual, provided they are conducted in thepractices considering their specificity.
