Resumo

The profound changes of the world demand a widening of the concept of citizenship produced by the rise of the bourgeoisie, that had its acme during the French Revolution. Defined basically by the Declaration of the Rights of Man and the Citizen, of 1789, reiterated in 1948 by the UN, citizenship cannot dismiss the social and ethical duties that we all, have in view of a true just society, one that rescue the human being within the citizen.
