Resumo

This study aims to examine what Brazilian educational norms and guidelines say about the representation of the history and culture of Asian populations in education, and how the Diálogo collection of textbooks, linked to the PNLD (National Textbook Program) and a product of these national norms and guidelines, is managing to articulate, or not, content related to the history, struggle, culture, and contributions of Chinese, Indian, and Japanese populations. In order to contribute to and broaden the existing perspective on the diverse societies, beyond those of white European origin, that make up the Brazilian population, a qualitative approach with a descriptive and exploratory objective is adopted to analyze five documents (including guidelines and laws) that underpin a Brazilian educational system, as well as to examine the six books of the 2020 Diálogo collection, linked to the Moderna publishing house, in use in the Goiás state education network and in effect until the present time of this monograph. Based on the methods described, it was observed that the content of laws, regulations, and textbooks appears in a scattered and superficial manner. Few topics related to the three countries manage to achieve their purpose of presenting content in a relatively complete way for the production of a didactic or dynamic sequence. The content follows an evolutionary approach, focusing on the technological development of the three Asian populations as a means of understanding them as a whole.
