Resumo
Sexual violence is a problem that goes through years of construction of a macho and patriarchal
society, where women live with the fear of being violated at all times. In view of this, it is
inferred that even without ever having suffered any kind of violence of this nature, women
modify their behavior in order to avoid experiencing it someday. Thus, this study aimed to
explore the cultural practices involved in sexual violence from a behavior analytic approach, to
contextualize the construction of gender roles and their implication for this practice, to
understand the role of the verbal community in reinforcing this type of violence, and also to
investigate the control of this practice over women's behavior. In view of this, a survey directed
only to women was carried out, in which an online questionnaire was applied to 187
participants, with questions related to perceived changes in their own behavior. The research
was based on a quali-quantitative analysis, using descriptive statistics, in which the main
implications of the constant threat of sexual violence present in the social environment in
women's behavior was presented. It was also discussed through behavior analysis the possible
factors involved in this cultural practice. Finally, from the results obtained it was possible to
identify several behaviors that women model throughout their lives in order to avoid suffering
violence of a sexual nature.
