Resumo

Nicolai Gógol and Edgar Allan Poe discuss on urban image of the crowd, that, in a rush provokes shocks. The view point is the citizen’s tool: it crosses and gets lost among many others astonished, fearful view points. In the twentieth- century literary tradition, critics aiming at the cities played a central role. From those American writers associated to the Beat generation, Allen Ginsberg is distinguished on this field.
