Resumo

Tietze syndrome is a rare inflammatory condition of the costochondral joints, characterized by localized chest pain and palpable swelling. Conventional treatment relies on analgesics and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs); however, refractory cases require interventional approaches. This study aims to review the literature regarding the use of intercostal infiltration with betamethasone dipropionate and betamethasone disodium phosphate combined with meloxicam for treating Tietze syndrome. This is a narrative review based on searches of the PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and SciELO databases. Findings suggest that corticosteroid infiltration provides significant pain relief, while meloxicam acts as a systemic adjuvant therapy. Despite the scarcity of randomized clinical trials, this therapeutic combination demonstrates pharmacological plausibility and favorable clinical outcomes in case reports and case series. It is concluded that this approach may be effective in refractory patients, although further studies are needed to standardize protocols and evaluate long-term safety.
