The inappropriate selection of construction techniques directly affects the thermal performance and energy efficiency of buildings, influencing occupants’ comfort. The analysis of climatic variables, together with the Brazilian bioclimatic zoning, constitutes an important reference for understanding the thermal behaviour of buildings and for guiding the adoption of construction strategies compatible with each climatic context. This study analysed the thermal behaviour of riverside dwellings in Marabá, Pará,Brazil, comparing wooden and masonry constructions based on data collected between October 2024 and May 2025, considering critical heat days of the Amazonian winter selected within the analysed period. Air temperature and relative humidity were monitored, with data collected in both indoor and outdoor environments of the buildings. The results indicated that masonry buildings exhibited greater thermal stability and remained within the comfort zone for longer periods due to their higher thermal mass, whereas wooden constructions, with lower thermal inertia, responded more rapidly to external variations. The study highlights the importance of considering local climatic conditions when selecting construction materials in order to ensure thermal comfort and energy efficiency.
