Resumo
During Modernity the expansion of industrial capitalism and the experience of wars left their mark on modern subjects. Disillusionment further accentuated the feeling of helplessness. Culture has proven to be a source of suffering for the subject, who, because of it, renounces his pulsional satisfaction in exchange for security - which will not be fulfilled for all subjects, especially those who move away from cultural ideals. In the face of suffering, individuals need to deal with their own desire. Through the Freudian psychoanalytic perspective, the concepts of Walter Benjamin and Paul Ricoeur, we aim to understand how the social phenomena inherent to Modernity impact the constitution of the subjectivity of old women. We analyze the autobiographical work of Clarice Lispector to understand the writing-of-self as a potential of working through loss
