This article originated from a research-based history of the city through its daily life, as seen in the city neighborhoods. We believe that it is within the city neighborhoods, the locus of life and social practices, that residents establish their strongest ties of belonging to the urban space, predisposing them for safekeeping them. The conservation of building heritage, a result of decisions which are not always in agreement with the ideals of the city inhabitants, in our view, is doomed to failure as people only protect that to which they attribute meaning. Aware of the multiplicity of city inhabitants who relate to diferente memories, we chose to base our study on personal statements. Among the developments of our research, we present the comic strip called “The airport that became a neighborhood”, a version of the story of the Airport Sector neighborhood, chosen for our research. The comic strip is directed toward children and our decision for choosing it is to our conviction that preservation of our heritage requires the affective support of the population and the attention of the young population is important. Thus, the objective is to translate the dynamics of memory into the language of the comic strips: the irruption of images and their present dimension, among other aspects.
