Resumo
Contemporary literature, with emphasis on the novel, goes through a kind of
revision regarding historical issues. In the specific case of Latin America, this revisionary
process turns to the different dictatorships experienced in their countries in this period. It is in
this line of reasoning, which proposes a reflection on literary representations of collective
catastrophes suffered by two South American countries in the twentieth century, Brazil and
Argentina, that this work is organized. For that, we selected the authors Adriana Lisboa and
María Teresa Andruetto, due to the perceived affinity in relation to the construction of their
aesthetic projects. There is a correlation, in the authors' work, between collective trauma and individual trauma and the role of memory in this imbrication. As a theoretical basis, the
concepts of individual memory and collective memory (HALBWACHS, 2003) can be compared;
the concept of past (GAGNEBIN, 2009); the concepts of family memory and generational
memory (CANDAU, 2016); as well as the notion of past time (SARLO, 2005).
