Resumo

In this journey, I write letters recounting how the teachings of a Kalunga woman-mother from Vão de Almas value quilombola identity within the Licentiate Degree in Visual Arts at FAV/UFG, highlighting the importance of art as a means of valuing these teachings. In the letters, I record memories and lived experiences through drawings and narratives, reflecting on the relationships among ancestry, motherhood, and the cultural identity of the Kalunga Territory. This research was developed from life histories passed from my mother to me, and to other women, as a source of strength and affirmation of their identity. In these letters, I present a path of understanding that weaves together the knowledge I received from my mother, Dona Fiota, the reflections of Antônio Bispo dos Santos, my trajectory at UFG, and the discoveries of the artists Renata Felinto and Rosana Paulino. I conclude this journey with a letter to my son, Heitor Francisco Araújo dos Santos, as a record of love, resistance, courage, and inspiration for other women—mothers, Black women, and Black quilombola women. Finally, I present letters to Josivânia Francisco dos Santos, carrying the desire to leave a legacy—a message for future generations of women, mothers, Black women, and Black quilombola women who dream of education and art.
