Resumo
This is a bibliographic review study whose objective was to analyze the possible causes of the demotivation of high school students in physical education classes. The corpus of analysis comprised publications from 2000 to 2020 in Physical Education journals and in Google Scholar, Scielo and Bireme databases. Eleven publications were identified and the results indicated that the main factors related to the students' lack of motivation are: the lack of content variability in the classes; repetitive content and; lack of school structure. In summary, the literature indicates that the main factors that can cause the demotivation of high school students in physical education classes are related to the use of content, approaches and pedagogical methodologies that do not differ in the formative stages of basic education. From elementary to high school, the same activities, requirements and experiences are used throughout the school period.
