Vulnerabilidade natural e risco de contaminação do aquífero Bauru no município de Rio Verde – GO

Resumo

In this work the POSH and GOD methods were applied to determine the Bauru's aquifer areas with more vulnerability to contamination, in the city of Rio Verde-GO, State of Goiás. It was also mapped areas that, resulting from human activities, they have high potential for contamination. Moreover, there was performing crossings between the natural situation and anthropogenic conditions for defining the risk of contamination of the BAURU aquifer in this city, based on an analysis of the physical environment and evaluation of 160 water wells. It was noted that, regarding contamination vulnerability, this aquifer predominates in the class called moderate, with coverage of 54% of the total area. On the other hand, the anthropogenic activities in the city exerts great pressure on the aquifer, with 71% of these activities are considered high potential contaminant, a fact that raises the risk of contamination in the area. Approximately 42% of the aquifer area in this city has a high risk of contamination, 69 or 49.29% of the water wells are in high-risk areas. It was found that about 45% of the area presents moderate to medium risk of contamination and the highest risk values predominate in the northwest region of the city. The results of the study indicate the great risk suffered by rural people who depend on groundwater resources for their production and livelihood.
