Resumo
The article develops a critical reading of the poem “O sobrevivente”, by Carlos
Drummond de Andrade, examining the testimonial dimension of his poetry, linked the lute for
the erosion of poetic language in the face of violence and reification inherent a process of
capitalist modernization. One of the aims of the work is to identify the poem's controversial position in the debut work of the author and the way that he enunciates a conception of history
and poetic making that would be delineated with greater density in the later works of
Drummond. Finally, we have established some relations between the poem and the famous
Adornian dictum about the impossibility of poetic creation after Auschwitz.
