Literatura, formação humana e sociedade: apontamentos acerca do potencial humanizador da literatura

Abstract

The objective of this work is to study the relationship between literature, society and human formation, emphasizing the humanizing character of literature that takes place from the organization of emotions, thoughts and human being feelings, as well as its articulation with historical time. For this, a qualitative research, bibliographic type, was made, which was based on reading and systematization of theoretical sources such as books and articles of scientific journal. The main authors studied were: Lajolo (1984), in which the author historically approaches the concept of literature in different social contexts; Cândido (2012), in which the literary critic discusses the magnitude of human formation, interposed by literature; Aranha e Batista (2009), in which the authors address the advance of mass literature, the influence of the market in the literary field, in

addition to the conflict between mass literature and erudite; Cândido (2011), in which the author elucidates how the process of human formation happens, mediated by the literature, demonstrating its fundamental aspects, considering it as an indispensable good to humanity, therefore, a right of all; and Lajolo (2018), which the author takes a new approach to the conception of literature, in addition to discussing the resistance to new types of literature, by defenders of classical literature. The work is divided in two chapters: the first one deals with the formative role of literature, bringing human formation and the historical concept of literature. The second one discusses the current presentation of literature, highlighting the influence of the industrial market in the literary world, the dispute between mass literature and the classics, as well as the transformations suffered by literature and the constancy of its social role. From the studies conducted, it is understood that the literature is a formative and humanizing instance, therefore, even with the market influence, fragmenting it, its social function is maintained.
